Turkey has banned the importation of ethylene polymer plastic waste as environmentalists and scientists sound the alarm on the world’s plastic consumption and limits of efficiency of recycling. According to Eurostat Turkey imported around 241 truckloads of plastic waste from EU countries every day. As far as it can be seen from the data and the field, Turkey continues to be Europe’s largest plastic waste dump.

However, 74% of the plastic waste imported by Turkey last year will now be on the banned list. This new update can be considered a very important step towards the goal of zero waste importation.
